Taste the essences of the Catalan Pyrenees in a journey from east to west. This MTB route follows the tracks of one of the most difficult MTB races in the world, the TRANSPYR. It has been adapted so you can enjoy this adventure at your own pace.
Our Catalan Pyrenees MTB Grand Tour follows the trails of the first 3 stages of the Transpyr Gran Raid MTB race, which the organization has baptized as the Eastern Route. We have redesigned more than 330 km so it can be ridden in 5 stages.
We start out in Roses, the main fishing port of northern Catalonia located just 9 km from the quaint town of Cadaqués and 10 km from Port Lligat, where the residence of Salvador Dalí is located. This first stage ends in Besalú, a striking Medieval town akin to a film set, which its origins date back to the 10th century.
The second stage passes through the Garrotxa Volcanic Zone Natural Park, the largest volcanic landscape in the Iberian Peninsula where we can discover picture-perfect areas of vegetation including stands of live oak and beech. We will wrap up the stage in Castellar de N'Hug, a lovely town nestled in a small valley which is the source of the Llobregat River.
Our third stage offers the majestic Cadí mountain range as a backdrop with breathtaking views. We will ride through lush forests of pine and fir located in Cadí-Moixeró National Park until we reach La Seu d'Urgell. These are perhaps the two most demanding stages, both in duration and uphill slopes.
The fourth stage takes us from La Seu d'Urgell to La Pobla de Segur. We will ride through the Serra de Boumort until we reach the end of our stage with the Sant Antoni reservoir in the distance.
During the fifth and last stage we'll ride to the town of El Pont de Suert, with the Serra de Sant Gervàs bearing witness to our skill and courage as we finish the 330 km of this magnificent MTB route.
With intense climbs and small recovery descents, our Catalan Pyrenees MTB Grand Tours is ideal for those riders willing to endure several days of pedaling and achieve great satisfaction at the finish line. The Spinatura team will do everything possible so any rider can join us and fish each stage motivated and willing to come back.
As we will be leaving from a Mediterranean coastal town (Roses) and finishing up in a mountain area (La Pobla de Segur, 526 m), both the climate and the type of terrain and vegetation we will encounter along the way will vary.
At the end of each stage of this cycling tour, you will receive a personalized SPIN Report.
The organization reserves the right to modify some sections of the route and/or the accommodations if necessary. Our clients will be notified of any changes immediately.
