The Way of Saint James MTB Grand Tour is part of the pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela, where pilgrims go to pay homage to the relics of the apostle James the Greater. It has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage site.

After meeting at the starting point in Ponferrada (of which you will be notified in advance), we will adjust our bikes, you will be given a short briefing of the route and some basic safety rules... and then off we go!

The first stage will take us as far as Vega de Valcarce. This is the shortest and most manageable stage with very short climbs and a combination of trails and tarmac roads.

The second stage is the most demanding. None the less, it offers the most stunning views as it winds through landscapes where the vagaries of nature have created a magical tableau. It begins with a steep climb to O Cebreiro, where we will enjoy magnificent views. From here the road levels out, and then descends towards Sarria.

The third stage of this MTB route is the longest in distance, but its inclination decreases along the way, giving this stage a better chance to admire the surroundings. We will ride through lush forests and charming villages, such as the town of Melide, which in this case marks the end of the stage.

The final stage takes us to Santiago de Compostela, and, together with the first, these are the most achievable stages. We will ride up to Monte do Gozo (the Hill of Joy), which is the first point from which pilgrims can see their final destination.

At the end of each stage of this MTB route, you will receive a personalized SPIN Report

The organization reserves the right to modify some sections of the route and/or the accommodations if necessary. Our clients will be notified of any changes immediately.
